5 great experiences to enjoy in Patagonia in 2017
Walking on the Glacier Perito Moreno
One of the most interesting ways to experience the Glacier is walking on the ice. The excursions go from long circuits exploring remote areas, to less demanding trails that allow you to live this experience in a more relaxed way. For instance, one of the circuits consists in a two hour trek over a part of the Glacier, which is combined with a visit to the traditional cat walks and a short navigation.
Visiting the Marble Cathedrals
This amazing group of colorful caves is a must for those who visit the Lake Carrera, in Chilean Patagonia. The walls, covered with marble medallions and other minerals, create a spectacular visual effect with colors of different tones. The Lake Carrera continues towards Argentina, where is known under the name of Lake Buenos Aires. The closest city is Los Antiguos (where you can visit as well the “Hands Cave”, and from where you can begin the most popular circuit of Ruta 40).
Heli-skiing in Ushuaia
One of the experiences that you can enjoy, away from the Ski Center and in some lost paradise of untouched powder snow, is Heli-skiing/boarding. The helicopter takes you (with the corresponding supervision) towards different slopes, from where you can descend about 2000-3000 meters, feeling an incredible adrenaline!
Torres del Paine, Pumas & Wild Life: An unexpected Encounter
Enjoy the beauty of the main pearl of Chilean Patagonia, during the time of the year when it´s less visited. During this 5-day experience, you will be able to combine the comfort of one of the most exclusive Patagonian Lodges, with the sensation of being fully connected with Nature.
Within the frame of an outstanding environment, and guided by experienced Puma trackers, you will follow the footprints of the most legendary big cat in Patagonia.
You will learn about their habits and preferences, and also the role that the different animals play in the Patagonian ecosystem. The fauna in Torres del Paine is composed of different interesting animals, such as Guanacos, Condors, Huemuls, Rheas, a big variety of birds, etc.
The chance of having a close encounter with Pumas is very high, as this experience takes place in autumn-winter, when the human presence is rare.
Puerto Madryn: Snorkeling, swimming, and playing with Sea Lions
Right next to Península Valdés -the paradise for Whales and Penguins watching- , exists a natural reserve called Punta Loma, from where you can go on a boat ride to live an unforgettable experience with Sea Lions.
After a short cruise, you will put on your wetsuits, hoods and boots, and with the assistance and advice of a guide, you will jump into the water to enjoy the adventure!
These curious and playful animals swim around the humans, interacting with them in an incredible and friendly way, speaking the language of nature, surrounded by the magnificent scenery of the Atlantic Patagonia.
